Rock & Bowl 2 - Electric Boogaloo

Benefitting Extraordinary Charities
In An Extraordinary World!!!

ROCK & BOWL 2 - Electric Boogaloo Event Information

Luis Lorenzana, Mike Schmitz & Vince Knoss are pumped to be hosting Rock & Bowl 2 – Electric Boogaloo!  On the heels of the “striking” success of our inaugural Rock & Bowl charity event (we raised almost $11,000), we’re once again ready to rock, roll and bowl, while benefiting extraordinary charities in an extraordinary world.  After serious consideration of many exceptional charities, the beneficiaries of Rock & Bowl 2 are the Dengue Relief Foundation and Donors Choose (click on the “About the Charities” for more detailed information).

The three of us launched Rock & Bowl to help raise money for charities around world and to have fun doing it!  What better way than to bring our friends together, dress up in outrageous outfits, crank some great tunes, grab some drinks, strap on the “always sanitary” bowling shoes and rock, bowl, dance and party the night away?!?!  Rock & Bowl 2 promises to build on the success of our inaugural event packed with a night of surprises, dancing and laughter – all for great causes.

Just the facts:

On Saturday, August 16, 2008 we have rented out the Presidio Bowling Center from 8 p.m. to midnight for a night of bowling, prizes, dancing and spirits.  This is how it works - we have 12 lanes and 11 teams, one lane will be used for walk-in bowlers and contests.  Thanks to our loyal Rock & Bowlers we have been overwhelmed with people stepping up to captain their own bowling teams.  These teams do not only compete in the “ancient art” of bowling but they also compete in raising money for our charities.  The ultimate goal for each team/lane is to raise at least $1,000 in additional donations from their family, friends, employers(ees), sponsors, contacts, barber, a neighbor named Fred, etc.  It is kind of like a marathon where you have your contacts sponsor you for each mile you run, but don’t worry, you don’t have to peg your bowling scores to the charitable contributions.  We highly encourage just getting “sponsors” to donate a flat fee on your behalf (unless you can bowl a 300).  Although the goal is to raise $1,000 per team (works out to a measly $100/person), the sky is the limit, and we strongly encourage reaching towards it.  Prizes will be given for the teams and individuals who raise the most money.

Individuals on a team are required to make a tax-deductible registration fee/donation of $100, which includes 4 hours of bowling, live music, great prizes, silent auction, and of course free drinks.  If you would like to be placed on a team, please let us know ASAP and we will see if one of the captains has an open slot that needs to be filled.

Otherwise, we’d love to have you all come and join in the silent auctions and bowling contests.  For those of you who just want to come hang-out, drink, dance, cheer on the teams and to support the cause, we will be asking for $40 tax-deductible donation.  To ensure your entrance, we advise registering early by clicking on the donate page and following the instructions on how to register for the event.

The Theme?!?!?

Not exactly sure what you’d describe our theme as, but just think of anything you’d wear to a Boogaloo.  For instance, if you think of the 80’s, think break-dancing, glam and rock bands, the 49ers dominating the NFL, Miami Vice, pastel colors, the movies “Rad” and “Breakin’ 1 & 2”, high-tops, jelly-bracelets and Adidas track suits.  Teams and individuals that create the best theme/costume will be rewarded.  Last year’s teams were hilarious, so BRING IT!!

Maybe this video will spark some ideas....

With your help, we know that it will be another fun-filled and successful night, while saying goodbye to Presidio Bowl, which will be closing its doors soon (stay tuned for SF’s future 16-lane fun center for Rock & Bowl 3).

Thank you for your time, generosity and support, and, again, please let us know if you want to be on a team or just help out by donating a prize…or a gift of your time.

On that note, put on your bowling shoes (preferably with breakin’ laces) and get ready to break it down!
