About Luis, Vince & Michael

Luis Lorenzana, Vince Knoss and Michael Schmitz met in 1994 when they were freshmen at Santa Clara University. During their time at Santa Clara, Luis, Vince and Michael became infamous (that means more than famous) for their superior athleticism, charm and knowledge of useless movie quotes. Since graduation, the boys have remained the closest of friends and have shared countless memories to last them a lifetime, including one backpacking debauchery through Europe, dozens of pilgrimages to Las Vegas, hundreds of Giants and 49er games, and thousands of "last calls" in bars throughout the world. Today, the boys find themselves in their 30's still wondering what happened to their 20's! Luckily, all three made it out of their 20's in one piece and each one of them has tasted success.
Acknowledging that life has dealt them a winning hand, Luis, Vince and Michael know it is important to give back to others less fortunate. On April 14, 2007, the boys launched the first Rock & Bowl Fundraiser, with the Mission to LIVE, LOVE & LAUGH…ROCK, ROLL & BOWL…while benefiting extraordinary charities in an extraordinary world. They will choose a different charity or charities every year to benefit from the Rock & Bowl Fundraiser and with your help, Luis, Vince and Michael hope to make Rock & Bowl a long-lasting San Francisco tradition. Thank you for your support, generosity and time. Now let meet the hosts...
LUIS LORENZANA
Luis is an attorney licensed in California and working for the law firm of Scott + Scott, LLP in San Diego. Before moving to San Diego, Luis served as pro bono counsel for La Raza Centro Legal in San Francisco. In his life before law school, Luis was an account supervisor at Weber Shandwick public relations, where he worked with high-tech clients. Luis earned his Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Santa Clara University. He graduated from St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco in 1994. Luis was born in El Salvador and tries to visit as often as he can to enjoy the beautiful beaches, time with friends and family, and of course, the pupusas!
Bowling Dreams
Look...Luis puts his pants on just like the rest of you - one leg at a time - except once his pants are on, all he does is bowl strikes. Luis' ascension to the top of the bowling world did not follow the conventional route...whatever that may be. He grew up bowling on the streets of San Francisco and no matter where he was in the city, Luis was never more than five seconds away from a bowling ball. His first claim to fame came when he headlined the first and only "AND 1 Bowling Mixtape Tour" in 2000. Unfortunately, the closest Luis came to the Denny's PBA pro tour was getting kicked out of a Denny's in Marin while wearing bowling shoes. Falling on hard times, Luis put himself through law school by flying to Las Vegas on the weekends to hustle high rollers and celebrities that booked the famed bowling suite at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Although technically retired, Luis can still be found every summer bowling at Rucker Park with the rest of the street bowling legends.
VINCE KNOSS

Vince is the Marketing, Advertising & Creative Director at a family clothing company, with the ambition to start his own “casually chic” clothing line. He attended St. Dunstan’s Grammar School, graduated from Mills High School in 1994, and went on to earn a double-major in Marketing and Business Administration at Santa Clara University in 1998. Vince is passionate about traveling around the world to new and exciting destinations, including personal favorites such as Australia, Croatia, El Salvador and several cities in the USA. Vince currently resides in San Francisco, living near AT&T Park where he spends much of his time.
"Spare” Information

Vince has several nicknames but people around the bowling alley, otherwise known as “the home field”, call him “PinVINCEable” because he’s always laughing and smiling and not much gets him down, except for the last bite of a Chenzo-burger, an empty beer, the 10th frame and a 7/10 split. Having perfected the PBA style ball spin that hugs the edge of gutter then whips back to center of the lane at the precise angle needed to ensure another strike, Vince has become one of the most feared and admired bowlers in the 415. Don’t let the personalized Simpsons bowling ball fool you, once the pins are set and the beer is cracked Vince is all business.
MICHAEL SCHMITZ
Michael is an investment banker and recently co-founded Bancroft Partners, a San Francisco based boutique investment banking firm focused on M&A, capital raising and strategic advisory for small and middle-market companies. During his career he has worked with companies of all sizes across a diverse range of sectors including consumer products, healthcare, technology, basic industries and forest products. Prior to co-founding Bancroft, Michael spent the past 4 years in successively senior roles with start-up investment banking boutiques focused on consumer-related industries, forest products and technology. Michael began his career and as an Investment Banking Analyst in the Health Care Group of ING Barings LLC, where he was responsible for the analysis of various public equity, M&A advisory and private placement transactions. Michael earned a B.S.C., with a concentration in Finance, from the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University (1998). Michael is a General Securities Representative licensed with the NASD and holds Series 7 and 63 securities licenses.
A Bowling Prodigy
Michael, a self-proclaimed “man-child”, was a star bowler in his teens. He reached the pinnacle of his career in 1993, winning the California State Girl Scout Championship over then 9 year-old Brittany Spears. His career was prematurely "cut off" by a hangnail in 1994, dashing his hopes of winning the 1994 Odor-Eaters Championship. Despite his injury, he has successfully rehabilitated himself and is still an avid bowler, having competed in numerous local competitions. He routinely breaks 75 and has even been known to pick up the 7-10 split once in a while (OK never, but he does occasionally catch a spare). Michael hopes his play at the First Annual Rock and Bowl will catch the attention of the PBA catapulting him to the Denny’s World Championship and the success and riches he has always dreamed of. He also “loves” the shoes and often “borrows” them from local establishments. Although being banned for a short time from both Presidio Bowl and the Yerba Buena Bowling Center, Michael routinely flies to Vegas, booking the “rain man suite” at the Hard Rock Hotel just so he can continue practicing. He cites his heroes as Roy Munson, Ernie McCracken, Derek Zoolander, Frank “The Tank” Ricard, Hansel and Forrest Gump among other fictional Hollywood movie characters.
